MVP Announced! (02-05-10)

QB-Drew Brees earns 2009 AFL MVP with 10 out of 11 first place votes.  Brees scored 204 points in 12 weeks averaging 17 poinnts a start.  He was also 11-2 as a starter.  qb-Peyton Manning finished second with (1) 1st place vote. The one disenter defended his position,  "Manning accounted for 34% of his team's scoring and if it wasn't for him Titty would have never made the playoffs let alone make it to the final four. He would have struggled to win a game.  When Manning scored 18 or more points Titty was 7-0, when he didn't they were 0-9."

Owner of the Year Announced! (01-27-10)

After a most succesful 2009 AFL Campaign, Nate earns 2009 AFL Owner fo the Year.  He earned (7) 1st place votes.  Winning the scoring title, scoring the most points in a week, most wins, winning the pro-bowl, making numerous trades and picking up free agents throughout the entire season.  Nate's only miss was coming up 12 points short in the AFL Championship where he lost to underdog Blackwell , who finished a close 2nd in the voting.

2009 Comeback Player Announced! (01-23-10)

RB-Rickey Williams earned the inaugural Comeback Player Award in convincing fashion as he did not score in 2006, nor 2007, and a mere 6 points in 2008.  However he stormed back resurrectiong his career scoring 54 points in 2009 and earning a Pro-Bowl start.  He literally came (back) out of nowhere.

2009 BUST Player(s) Announced! (01-22-10)

I couldn't help but notice how inept the Redskins skill players were this year so I had to nominate them as a collective, more as a joke, but the reality of it is, is that they were actually voted the Biggest Bust in the AFL this year.  Santana Moss, Clinton Portis & Chris Cooley, once integral parts of the AFL should now be wearing brown paper bags over their heads. Having said that all three could very well win comeback player of the year, they still have the skill and talent, but do they have the desire.  Last year they were started for a combined 32 times and scored 78 points, this year 6 combined starts for 6 points.  That's a dropoff.  RB-Derrick Ward came in a close second.   Last years winner rb-Chris Perry was officially released from the Bengals in April 2009, he was drafted by the Florida Tuskers of the UFL but never played a down.  He had a try-out for the New York Jets in December 2009 in case Thomas Jones w ere to get hurt during the playoffs.

2009 Rookie of the Year Announced! (01-20-10)

WR-Miles Austin brings his Cinderella story to the AFL as he earns the 2009 AFL ROY.  He was undrafted and signed by the Easport Assassin after the 2009 season started.  Austin received only (6) 1st place votes.  "I think being a Cowboy affected some people's votes. There's a lot of Giants and Eagles fans in this league." "  Either way the rookie out scored both Roy Williams and Jason Whitten and even his Cowboy predecessor Terrell Owens COMBINED! Austin is the first wideout to earn ROY since Randy Moss in 1998.   rb-Ray Rice came in a close second.  Previous Rookie of the Years:

In what can be billed as the Year of the Trades just
before the trade deadline Nate was able to squeeze one more trade in as he acquired rb-Laurence Maroney from Tony for a 2nd round pick.  "I love having the Patriots on my team!"  Nate had acquired wr-Randy Moss earlier this year to join his Patriots Defense.  Earlier this year he made a strong case to acquire hc-Bill Bellicheck.  "Now if I could just get my Millies..."

LARGEST TRADE EVER ANNOUNCED! (10-21-09)

Not exactly a trade involving household names, but a trade between Nate & Frank involves 10 players. Think about that, 10 players. That's like about 20% of their teams. Nate making no doubts about it, he's going for it this year, the chips are all on the table. Frank, no doubt about it, having a yard sale, and planning for the future. Can't wait until you meet each other this season. Players involved:

Nate gets: wr-Steve Smith(NYG), te-Greg Oleson, wr-Devery Henderson, wr-Josh Morgan, and hc-Mike Smith.

Frank gets: wr-Ted Ginn Jr. rb-Reggie Bush, wr-Ted Ginn Jr. te-Brent Celek, and hc-Andy Reid.

Interestingly, Nate now has both Steve Smiths, and Ted Ginn Jr. has been on 4 different teams this year.

In other news;

Jason and Sandy reached a trade for...., surprise....rb-Marion Barber. Sandy sends rb-Marion Barber back to Jason along with his 5th round 2010 and in return he gets wr-DeSean Jackson and the rights to Jason's 2nd round 2011.

Please keep in mind,

Free Agency Deadline October 31st at midnight

Trade Deadline November 11th at midnight.

Week 5 Recap (10-20-09)

** Blackwell defeats David (39-32) and gets his Rat Pack back into the McCann Division Title hunt. ** Late Monday night Witmer rallied the troops and scored enough to beat Jason 56-55.  First time in 23 weeks one of Witmer's starting TEs scored for him.  It is also Jason's 4th 1 point game.  He is 2-2 in those games.  ** Somebody woke a sleeping Giant as Kirk blasted Sandy 73-23.  Reminds me of Campy's Chosen 2 years ago. ** Nate holds off a very game Todd 57 - 51.  Nate eyeing that division title, something he has never won.  ** Tony survives to earn his second tie of the year with Frank 21-21. ** Gaspar and Titty  play to an ugly 21-12 final.  Not exactly clash of the titans.

Is T.O. an Owner killer?
 (10-18-09)

Not wanting to be out done by LT and Randy Moss, Terrell Owens demanded a trade late yesterday afternoon and was sent packing to Campy's Chosen.  Joining TO will be rb-Marshawn Lynch.  Late Nite Lettermen receive wr-Wes Welker & rb-Steven Jackson.  "Now I get to show my stuff against  the Delics twice a year!"

Big Named Players Traded!  (10-17-09)

Who would have ever we thought we would see the day that Randy Moss Would be traded?  Moss has been with the same franchis since 1998 and won 3 rings with that franchise.  On Friday, Moss was sent packing to the Devil Dawgs for wr-Andre Johnson and te-Tony Gonzalez.  The Dawgs also receive and 2nd round pick in the 2010 draft.

A player of equal magnitude was also sent packing, this time to Chambersburg.  Ladainian Tomlinson the all-time leading AFL rusher was traded to Tony for the rights to his 1st round pick 2010. Todd has been trying to contend and prepare for the future at the same time.  It appears that Tony off to a 4-0-1 start, is trying to gather as many wins as possible before bye weeks and injuries take their toll on his amazing run.

Peyton Manning, Tony Gonzalez, Andre Johnson, LaDainian Tomlinson, Randy Moss, Terrell Owens, Kurt Warner, Willis McGahee, Jamal Lewis, Reggie Wayne, Frank Gore, and 6 1st round picks all traded in the past 6 weeks. All untouchable staples, guys who were considered the foundation of teams gone to other teams.

I'm just curious to know what you are all going to do when the trade deadline occures November 11th?
